2015 Chevrolet Silverado Power & Handling

The Chevy Silverado comes in three EcoTec3 engine options: a 4.3L V-6 SAE-certified at 285 horsepower and 305 lb.-ft. of torque, a 5.3L V-8 certified at 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque, and a new 6.2L V-8 SAE-certified at 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2014 Silverado gets the best fuel mileage of any 1500 pickup with a V-8 engine package. The 5.3L V-8 has EPA-estimated fuel economy of up to 23 mpg highway on the two-wheel-drive (2WD) models. Silverado models equipped with the 4.3L V-6 can tow up to 7,600 pounds, the highest for any base V-6 in the segment great for larger jobs.

The available class-exclusive RamBox Cargo Management System offers lockable, lit, drainable storage with remote keyless entry for extra convenience. At highway speeds, the shutters automatically close to reduce drag and improve efficiency. The available 8.4-inch touchscreen offers features like interior climate control and 3-D terrain maps. Bluetooth wireless connectivity, voice command and steering wheel-mounted buttons mean you are always in complete control.

The pickup box also is designed from the focus on providing Silverado owners with the right tools for the job. The box is made from roll-formed steel for increased strength and reduced mass, compared with the stamped beds used by major competitors, and it features a range of smart solutions for everyday life, and may upfit for certain jobs. For the first time, Silverado 1500 crew cabs are offered with a longer 6'6" box, in addition to the previous 5'8" box, enabling customers to carry more cargo while still being able to park in many garages, turning the average pickup truck into a work-truck.


The RAM 1500 model's optional EcoDiesel engine is rated to return four extra miles per gallon on the highway compared to the most efficient setup offered by Chevrolet. A reversing camera and parking-assist sensors are available on both the Chevy and the RAM.
